Then, locate the battery's hatch, and turn it open using a flathead, coin, or other similar tool. Then, carefully remove the battery out of its socket by lifting it on the side closest to the key-ring loop. Be sure to use rubber gloves to avoid damaging the contacts or the clips.

Place the new battery in the socket after the older one was removed. Make sure that the positive side is facing up and that it's seated in all the clips. Then slide the cover back downwards and towards the key-ring loop section until it is loose and falls off. Remove the cover to reveal the hidden mechanical key blade. This can be used to unlock your vehicle through the driver's door If the battery for your key fob is dead or missing.
